ConnectDMV Student Engagement Summit Spotlight
From Aldaine Wynter, Director of IDI: I am incredibly proud of Sophia '26 and Xavi '27, who have been part of the inaugural student planning team for ConnectDMV’s Student Engagement Summit and are now in their second year of leading this work alongside students from other founding member schools. Their sustained commitment, collaboration, and leadership continue to make a meaningful impact.
This year’s Student Engagement Summit on February 7, created by students for students, offered a powerful space for reflection, dialogue, and action. Participants revisited projects launched last year, shared learning across schools, and engaged deeply in expert-led sessions focused on mental health and wellness, civil discourse, service learning and community engagement, college access, and recognizing and uplifting the workers within our communities.
Alongside inspiring student presentations and speakers, the summit highlighted the power of student voice, agency, and collective responsibility in shaping more just, connected, and compassionate communities. Huge congratulations to Sophia, Xavi, and all the students who helped design and lead such an impactful day.
