WHAT IS AN
International
School?

Our challenging international program draws on classroom-based research on pedagogical practices and curriculum design from renowned organizations such as the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB) and Project Zero, a research group based in the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University

Language learning is a cornerstone of the WIS program. Students are prepared to be functionally bilingual, beginning with a French or Spanish language immersion program in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten and continuing with study in at least two languages through Grade 12.

LEARNING LANGUAGES
Changes Our
Perception

Did you know we think differently in different languages?

In Mandarin, one doesn’t say next week and last week but refers to ‘the week below’ and the week ‘above’. English speakers perceive time as linear on a side-to-side scale. Mandarin speakers think of it vertically.

So more than being able to communicate, it is a gateway to a greater understanding and a more complete worldview

BUT MUCH MORE THAN
Speaking
Another
Language

OUR MISSION IS TO BE
An Exemplary
Learning
Community

OUR STUDENTS ARE
Ready for the
World to come
