Arts & STEM

There's a creative outlet to suit every student at WIS. In addition to the arts classes built into the curriculum, there are numerous extra-curricular activities that allow students to explore and develop their abilities and interests in the visual arts, music, theater, and design.

From Preschool through Grade 8, students take both music and visual arts classes; Upper School students must take at least four semesters of fine or applied arts. Primary School students may explore the dramatic arts as part of their academic studies or during after school classes, while Middle and Upper School students have the option to take a theater elective and/or participate in school productions.

While all students at the Primary School are exposed to design ideas and practices through their PYP Units of Inquiry, a design technology class offers Grades 3 to 5 students additional opportunities for in-depth exploration of tools and techniques. A variety of design-related electives are available beginning in Middle School and continuing through Grade 12. Students may choose to enroll in the demanding IB Design Technology course for their final two years of study at WIS.
