DISTANCE LEARNING

(Updated April 22, 2020)

WIS has modified its existing Virtual Learning Policy to accommodate a potential sustained closure due to COVID-19. Teachers and students have received training. Middle and Upper School families are encouraged to sign up for onCampus notifications if they have not already done so and Primary School families should subscribe to Seesaw notifications. THIS FORM was shared with families in advance of the School's closure to ensure students had access to a device and adequate Internet.

Each division has created a plan for Distance Learning. Overviews of each Plan are available by clicking on the relevant link: Primary SchoolMiddle School, Upper School. Students and parents can also access these plans via onCampus, under Resources/Distance Learning.

MESSAGES TO THE COMMUNITY

Prevention is everyone's responsibility!

Even when distance learning is in effect, if you or members of your household are confirmed to have COVID-19, you must report this information to our school nurses (Colleen Hackett, Primary School nurse and Molly Foa, Tregaron nurse).

PRACTICE HEALTHY HABITS

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing, and certainly if your commute includes public transit.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently-touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
