WIS is 50!
From our Founder's Day salute to Dorothy Goodman to a walk through history via our online timeline, the 50th anniversary year offers many opportunities for the community to remember why WIS exists, and to look ahead to our next 50 years.
Our 50th Anniversary Golden Weekend, May 13-15, 2016, was an incredible celebration for the entire community. The Weekend kicked off with Follies 5 on May 13, a lovingly satirical examination of life at WIS. The May 14 Golden Gala at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium found the WIS community at its glittery best. Gala attendees were generous as well, with over $500,000 raised for Financial Aid at WIS, including a record-breaking $335,000 from the Fund-A-Student Auction. The Weekend concluded with the Bazaar on May 15, featuring games, great food and lots of laughter. Thank you to everyone who joined us and who supported the activities from near and far.
SIGNALING 50, 1966 to 2016
During the Golden Weekend, we also unveiled a public artwork conceived by Julia Vogl, member of WIS Class of 2003. The project was funded by a generous grant from longtime WIS employee David Merkel. Read more about it here.
