Grades 3-5 Camps

Washington International School is recognized as a leader in language immersion and dual language programs. Our summer camp programs employ the same practices and principles in order to educate our campers...but we make sure there's plenty of summer fun as well. Older campers can choose from a variety of opportunities rooted in language development, cultural exploration, and trying new things! Choose from French or Spanish language camps, or trip and travel experiences taught in English. Learn more by clicking on any of the options below.

Language Explorers: Beginner French or Beginner Spanish

Swoop into a summer of language learning in this five-day camp for beginner language learners. This camp is offered for either beginner French or beginner Spanish speakers and is designed to make language acquisition engaging and fun. Campers will participate in games, creative activities, and exciting projects while building their vocabulary and confidence in conversing. Choose from one, two, or three weeks — no day will be the same! Campers will spend about half their time participating in daily themes, and the other half participating in camp activities with friends. Campers will visit a local swimming pool once a week to cool off and splash around. Previous French or Spanish experience is not required. This camp is conducted in a hybrid English-French or English-Spanish environment.

Culture Curators: French or Spanish Immersion

Take your language skills to the next level while exploring culture and connections throughout the world. This camp is designed for intermediate and advanced French or Spanish speakers in an immersive language environment. Campers will explore global cultures and traditions, expand their vocabulary, and have fun with friends! Choose from one, two, or three weeks — no day will be the same! Campers will spend about half their time participating in daily themes, and the other half participating in camp activities outdoors. Campers will visit a local swimming pool once a week to cool off and splash around. Previous French or Spanish experience IS required. This camp is conducted in an immersive French or immersive Spanish environment, with most activities being taught in the target language.

Culture Curators Session Dates and Areas of Exploration

Day Trippers

Spend the week exploring all that Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia have to offer. Explore the area you know and love, while trying new things every day. Choose from one, two, or three weeks — no day will be the same! Campers will spend the majority of their day offsite, returning to campus at the end of the day to relax and play with friends. Each session will follow the themes below, with new and unique trips each session. A complete itinerary will be provided closer to the start of camp. This camp is conducted in English.
