Students have an option to explore their musical interests throughout their WIS educational careers. Early Years Celebrations of Learning include musical performances for parents, and there are additional opportunities to perform as students advance through the grades, including a Grades 3 and 4 annual musical celebration and two concerts each year in both the Middle and Upper School divisions.
Students in Grades 4 and 5 who are interested in learning how to play an instrument or who wish to continue playing as part of an ensemble may participate in the Primary School Band/Orchestra at no extra cost. There is an ensemble for students who already play an orchestral or band instrument. It is open for wind and percussion players as well as advanced string players. Also, there are beginning group classes for orchestral wind and percussion instruments. The beginning classes will merge into the ensemble in the spring. All classes will take place after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 3:30 and 4:30 PM. Supervision will be provided for students up until the end of the practice. Students who participate in instrumental music will need to rent their instrument from a local music store. Contact Joshua Frayer with any questions.
