On November 2, our Grade 6 students had the opportunity to hear from Pablo Cartaya, author of one of their summer reading books, The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora. Pablo shared many anecdotes with the students, including his first memory of a writing assignment when he was their age. His advice for these aspiring young writers was to "Feel good claiming the stories that you'll tell and that who you are is AWESOME. YOU get to be the hero of your own story. Claim it!" He also shared how difficult first drafts of his books can be to write, but he encouraged the students to acknowledge that it can be difficult, accept it, and just try to take one more step.

We are so grateful to Pablo for taking the time to speak to our students and for all his humor and inspiration!
