Staff

Passport to Summer teachers, counselors, and administrative staff come from many different countries. They are selected for their enthusiasm, experience, and unswerving ommitment
to providing a safe, challenging, and nurturing environment. Most of them are year-round WIS faculty, current WIS students, or alumni.

Camp Director
Michelle Broadie,
Director of Enhancement Programs
With several years of administrative experience at the International School of Paris, Ms. Broadie arrived at WIS in 1993. A native of France and Switzerland, she received the DUEL d’Espagnol and Licence d’Anglais at the Universite d’Amiens (Bachelor of Arts, English and Spanish majors.) She later studied computer programming in France and taught in the U.K., Spain, and France.

Matthew Perriam holds a B.A. in French Studies from the University of Portsmouth and an M.A. in European Studies from the University of Exeter, both in the U.K. Before coming to WIS in September 2007, Mr. Perriam worked and lived in France, Hong Kong, and Australia.

Natasha Bhalla,
Middle School English and
Dean of Students
Ms. Bhalla earned a B.A. in English Education at Virginia Tech and a M.Ed. in Social Foundations of Education at the University of Virginia. Before coming to WIS in 1999, Ms. Bhalla taught English in the Alexandria City Public Schools for three years.

Enhancement Programs
A WIS graduate (’98), Lilia Aparicio earned a B.A. in Broadcasting, Television and Mass Media from Temple University in 2002. She has moved up through the ranks, working as
summer camp teacher’s aid, then teacher, and now as a key member of the Enhancement Programs administrative team. She also has worked as a primary school teacher’s assistant during the academic school year.
