Passport to Summer welcomes students from Washington, DC and beyond, affording a unique international and multicultural experience and a wide range of programs to students of all ages. Passport to Summer is a safe and nurturing environment where children can have fun and are encouraged to discover and appreciate other cultures, while also learning more about themselves, and becoming more self-reliant and confident in their own abilities.
While keeping the programs that have been so popular over the past years, Passport to Summer 2008 introduces new collaborative, project-based programs that reflect the interests of 21st century young explorers. These programs allow students of all ages to produce multimedia work that combine art, technology, movement, drama and music, developing skills that the next generation needs to be successful. Campers work together, acquiring and honing skills of leadership, compromise, collaboration and ingenuity, as new challenges and experiences require them to rely on each other and encourage one another.
At the Tregaron Camp (ages 9 – 16), language immersion programs, multimedia programs, and academic International Baccalaureate and Jump Start courses take full advantage of our brand new black box theater, media center and sports field.
At the Georgetown Camp (ages 3 – 8), proficiency levels in our Language Immersion programs, the use of technology, and collaborative teaching between language teachers and specialists, allows each child to benefit more fully from his or her camp experience. Project based activities add a new dimension to the Specialty Camps and give students the opportunity to acquire more confidence in problem solving, creative thinking and teamwork.
Passport to Summer is truly a place where students from all walks of life come together and share an entertaining, educational, and innovative experience. My staff and I look forward to welcoming you and your child to WIS this summer.
