Performing Arts
Primary School Drama
The Primary School program focuses on the use and development of the voice, the body and the imagination. Children learn self-expression and creativity, concentration and memory skills from dramatizing favorite songs for classmates, miming, and acting out legends, folklore, literature and dramatic works from a variety of cultures.
Upper School Drama
Students participate in improvisations and other exercises designed to increase sensory awareness of the environment in order to translate such awareness to the imaginary environment of the stage. They read six plays a year from a variety of authors and theatrical traditions, both classical and contemporary, and attend at least two professional productions. The final examination in each grade is a performance.
International Baccalaureate Theatre
Students learn to interpret play scripts and other theatrical texts analytically and imaginatively, study the art of the stage and the essential nature of criticism. Students perform before an audience and demonstrate skill in acting techniques and the basic processes of theatrical production.
