Primary School Music

Students gain skills in music through active learning while developing the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, form, and timbre, playing percussion instruments and the recorder.

Grade 4 and 5 students have the option of an after-school orchestra program or choir.

Upper School Music

The Grade 9 and 10 Chorus elective allows students to study and perform choral music by numerous composers representing different historical periods, languages and styles while building their vocal and performance skills. Trips to local performing arts centers and theaters are part of this program.

The Instrumental Music class allows students to play an instrument of their choice in ensemble or chamber music group. Students perform twice per term in class.

International Baccalaureate Music

Students develop skills in critical understanding, listening, and making music through composing, improvising, and performing. The course includes a historical perspective of the continuity and change in Western music as well as music of other cultures.
