Annual Fund
What is it about WIS that makes it such a special place? One major element is our commitment to international, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity. In order to preserve the latter, the school has increased the amount of financial aid from its operating budget to 9% of tuition revenue. Since the school’s endowment is too small to generate sufficient annual returns to cover the total financial aid budget, the bulk of the 2007-2008 Annual Fund goal, $530,000, has been designated to cover one third of the financial aid budget. Donors can also opt to designate their Annual Fund gifts to support annual costs other than financial aid, i.e. teacher compensation, instructional resources, and additional international experience opportunities for WIS students.

This year, WIS will offer financial aid and support to more than 100 children whose families could not otherwise afford to have them attend the school. In addition to tuition, aid is also provided to assist students with fees for activities that are an integral part of the WIS educational experience. These include costs associated with special opportunities and co-curricular activities like the Grade 8 language trips, the 10th grade retreat, and local field trips.
The Annual Fund is a means to strengthen the WIS family by building new relationships within our community of parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends of the school. This year’s Annual Fund Leadership Team consists of Chair and Trustee Shilpa Patel (Divya 12); PS Coordinator Sonia Ruseler-Smith (Nelson 2, Alegria 4); MS Coordinator Sheri Gilman (Ted 8, Dara 12); and US Coordinator Hope Burness Gleicher (Molly 9, Alexander 11). Thank you for helping WIS retain its essential character!
