In the first six years, growth was both an opportunity and a challenge for WIS. While it was validating to have a strong demand for this avant-garde education, finding adequate space was a constant battle. In 1972, the school managed to acquire use of the Mansion on Tregaron, a residential property near Dorothy's house that seemed to offer great potential for a school. Years of negotiations were to follow, and WIS had many neighbors in the early occupation of the Tregaron property.
