School Supplies


Please note there are no special supplies required for students in Preschool through Grade 3, nor do we publish supply lists for Upper School students. 

Upper/Middle School Note: The Tregaron Library does not have headphones available for lending. All students should plan to use their own headphones as needed. 

Grade 4 Supplies

4A and 4B (French Classes)4C and 4D (Spanish Classes)

NEEDED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR:

  • Two 2-inch three ring binders for Math (white with clear sleeve on the cover): one for Math English class, one for French Math class 
  • Two 1 1/2-inch black three ring binders with clear sleeve on the cover for the English/French class to collect homework, etc. 
  • One pencil case 

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD IS SUPPLIED WITH THESE ITEMS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR:

  • No. 2 pencils, sharpened (students are to have a box of spare pencils in their lockers)
  • Green fine felt tip pen for writing 
  • Black felt tip pens for illustration 
  • Black or blue pens for writing 
  • Green ball point pen for corrections
  • Erasable colored pencils, sharpened 
  • Highlighters

Grade 5 Supplies

A backpack that will comfortably fit into a school locker without the use of a crow bar.
(Locker dimensions: Height 34.5 inches/87cm; Width 12 inches/30cm; Depth 11 inches/28cm)

A pencil case stocked with:

  • pencils
  • a blue, black, red and green ballpoint pen
  • 2 black felt tipped writing pens
  • an effective eraser
  • a pair of scissors
  • a small glue stick
  • coloring pencils
  • coloring pens
  • a good quality pencil sharpener that contains shavings

Also:

  • a 12-inch ruler
  • a 180° protractor
     

Optional

  • a locker shelf
  • a compass (for drawing circles)

What NOT to supply: “Trapper Keepers” of any kind

Middle School Supplies

All students are assigned a locker (measurements are: 72" high x 14.5" wide x 19.5” deep) with a built-in combination lock. The backpack should fit comfortably into the locker. The School provides each student with an assignment book with the school year letter day schedule. All students should have:

  • A sturdy backpack (rolling or hard frame backpacks are not permitted)
  • Three composition books (for Health, English, Language Two)
  • One spiral notebook
  • One graph paper notebook or composition book (Mathematics)
  • Three 1.5" binders or folders (for Mathematics, English, Science)
  • One 2.5" binder (for Language/Humanities)
  • Section dividers with pockets
  • No. 2 pencils
  • Pack of highlighters
  • Highlighters in three different colors (French only)
  • Red, black and blue pens
  • Eraser
  • A small, soft gym bag that can fit inside the lockers, for Physical Education clothes.
  • Grades 6 and 7: an inexpensive scientific calculator
  • Grade 8: one of the following: a TI 84/83 or TI 84/83 plus calculator

We suggest buying a couple of extra binders/folders and notebooks early in the year while there are sales because items will probably be lost over the course of the year. Students may also want to color code their binders/folders and notebooks by subject.

OPTIONAL SUPPLIES: Some students may benefit from having one or more of the items listed below.

  • Clear plastic sleeves for three-ring binders
  • One marble composition notebook for creative writing in English
  • Pocket folders for three-ring binders
  • Small sticky notes
  • Reinforcements for lined paper
  • A pack of fine-tip markers
  • An insulated lunch box
  • Headphones (these will not be available to borrow at the Library)

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY SUPPLIES: Students in Design Technology in grades 7-8 will need to bring the materials below with them to every class. Grade 6 students should not purchase any materials for Design Technology. All items except the ruler should be kept in a small pencil case.

  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • A clear plastic 30 – 60 – 90 triangle
  • A clear plastic 45 – 45 – 90 triangle
  • A protractor (clear plastic)
  • A compass (with a screw at the joint that is able to be tightened)
  • An eraser (art style)
  • A 12-inch ruler that has both systems of measurement

PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLOTHES: The PE department requires all students to have a good pair of sneakers with non-marking soles for INDOOR use as well as a good pair of sneakers for OUTDOOR use. Students should have a full change of clothes: athletic shorts and/or sweat pants, and a WIS t-shirt that can be bought at school in September. Before class, students must change into their PE clothes and after class, change to their regular clothes. In addition, students should bring a combination lock to secure their belongings.
