All permanent classrooms at WIS have at least one networked computer that teachers and students can use to enhance the learning process. Classrooms are equipped with ceiling mounted digital projectors, screens and sound systems to enable teachers to take full advantage of the enormous range of teaching resources on our network and through our online library research databases as well as on the Internet. Laptops on mobile carts are available throughout the school and in both libraries. In addition we have two computer labs at the Tregaron campus and another at the primary campus.
Our online course management tool, Moodle, allows teachers to post assignments, syllabi and other resources. Students can access Moodle on campus or at home, and can submit assignments electronically.
To support these activities WIS maintains a modern network using the latest operating systems and software. We have a high-speed connection to the Internet from each campus as well as a private connection between the campuses. All teaching areas have wireless networking access.
Students in Grades 6-10 participate in our 1:1 iPad program, which requires them to bring an iPad to school each day. Teachers seek to use technology to enhance the educational experience and have found the iPad offers exceptional opportunities for real-time collaboration. Younger students make increasing use of iPads as they advance through the Primary School, so they are well prepared by the time they reach Middle School. Most students in Grades 11 and 12 choose to bring a laptop to school every day.
