On October 13, Grade 3 students did a sensational job providing breakfast on Healthy Day! With the help of many dedicated parents, we scrambled eggs, toasted bread, chopped up fruit, arranged flowers, and set the table for 70+ people to enjoy a delicious and healthy breakfast. Students even prepared healthy snacks to keep us fueled for the Healthy Day walk along the C&O Canal Trail. Students and chaperones enjoyed a crisp fall day walking, and getting to know each other outside of school, from Georgetown to Fletcher's Boat House.
After lunch, students learned about another way to keep our minds and body aligned and healthy by taking a yoga class led by Ms. Foster and Ms. Musico. Students challenged themselves to balance, breathe, and notice their surroundings quietly for a whole 45-minutes. We were impressed by their focus and participation.
Continuing the relaxed vibe created by the yoga classes, students were transported back to the days of kindergarten as they took naps on their cots. Students have learned how important sleep is to their development and health, and enjoyed these well-earned Zs.
To wrap up the day, Mr. Hisler, WIS's new counselor, shared one of his favorite stories about the power of positivity to teach students about the importance of keeping our minds healthy and balanced.
This was an extremely successful (and exhausting) day which was only made possible by the support of parents. We appreciate all of you who gave your time and effort. The students enjoyed having you here.
An extra thank you is owed to Grade 3 Angelie T. for going grocery shopping AND arriving extra early to help set up before the breakfast. We really appreciate all your help, Angelie!
We now hope your children have been inspired to make you breakfast in bed.
