Homecoming and Dedication of New Soccer/Softball Field at Tregaron:
October 18, 2008
On October 18th, WIS will celebrate the much anticipated dedication of a new regulation-size turf field at its Tregaron campus. The new field permits optimal home game and all-weather practice conditions, commensurate with the girls and boys soccer teams’ and the softball team’s standing as members of the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference (PVAC). This is a unique marketing opportunity to reach out to the 15-school membership of the PVAC in addition to WIS.

Wind, Water, & Waste Symposium
November 18, 2008
Each fall, 50 school teams join WIS at the World Bank to learn about global environmental issues and how to take action in their schools and communities. Teams learn how one person can make a difference by taking local action in response to the larger, global issue of climate change. 300 representatives from 50 public, charter, and independent schools in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia attend the symposium, hosted at the World Bank, each year.

International Bazaar
April 19, 2009
The Bazaar is a WIS tradition where we celebrate our community with a day of fun and games for families and children of all ages. Activities include carnival-type games, an International Food Court, art activity tables, face painting, moon bounce, a used book sale, vendor tables, a performance stage, a basketball tournament, a storyteller’s corner, and much more. Over 500 people attend the event each year from the WIS community and the local public.

Ongoing Theatre Events
From the school’s inception, the performing arts have been a central feature of the WIS cultural landscape, challenging youthful performers and uniting students, parents, friends and faculty in the campus arts community. A new 306-seat black box theatre, professional lighting and sound board, scene shop, costume and prop shop greatly enhance the enjoyment of theatre at WIS and create an ideal opportunity to reach potential customers through the arts. WIS stages four large-scale productions and a number of concerts and other special events in the theatre each year.
