Tours and Open Houses
The Admission Office invites all prospective families considering WIS for the 2008/09 academic year to visit our school. Weekly tours are offered mid-September through mid-December.
Due to the small size of our group tours, appointments are required. Please contact Mary Hastings Moore in the Admissions Office at (202) 243-1815 to schedule your visit.

Primary School Tours: Pre-Kindergarten through Grade
5
Middle School Tours : Grades 6 – 8
Upper School Tours : Grades 9 – 12
PRIMARY SCHOOL: Pre-Kindergarten
through Grade 5

Small-Group Tours will be offered from mid-September through mid-December. Tours are conducted by a current WIS parent or a member of the Admissions staff. After the tour, visitors meet with Dorrie Fuchs, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, to further discuss the School’s programs. The entire visit lasts roughly 1½ hours. Parents of younger children are asked to arrange to come without their children. All children will have an opportunity to visit later in the application process.

- Pre-Kindergarten - Tours for the parents of children entering Pre-Kindergarten will take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 9:15am.
- Kindergarten - Tours for parents of children entering Kindergarten will take place on Thursday and Friday mornings at 9:15am.
- Grades 1 through 5 - Tours for Grades 1-5 will begin at 8:30am on select Thursdays. These events are intended both for parents who have filed applications and for those who are considering doing so. Applicants to Grade 2 and above are welcome to attend the tour, although the principal goal is to provide information for parents.
- Parking – All numbered spaces in the WIS parking lot are reserved for faculty. Visitors attending a tour are welcome to park on the neighboring streets, zoned for two-hour parking, which should be sufficient for your visit.
Open Houses will be held November 16 and December 7. Parents who have participated in a Small Group Tour do not need to attend an Open House. Open Houses allow us to accommodate more visitors on a single morning and include both a tour and a general information session. Tours begin at 9:00am, 9:15am, and 9:30am. After a tour visitors attend an information session and meet School administrators. The entire visit should last 1½ - 2 hours.

The campus tours last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours, and applicants are encouraged to attend with their parents. Upon arrival, families should meet in the Mansion at the top of the campus drive.
Due to the small size of the tour groups, appointments are necessary. Please call Mary Hastings Moore in the Admissions Office at (202) 243-1815 to schedule your visit.
Parking - Visitors should proceed up the campus drive to the circular parking lot to the right of the Mansion. You may park in any of the visitor parking spaces.
