Who We Are

Washington International School (WIS) is a coeducational day school offering 890 students a challenging curriculum and rich language program from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The programs - the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Middle Years Program (MYP), and the IB Diploma Program—culminate in the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. We equip children with the tools to master rigorous academic challenges in math, science, languages, literature, and social sciences, and our international focus helps them tackle broader challenges beyond the textbook. They learn global citizenship and individual integrity as they develop the skills to deal with life experiences. An active sports schedule, community service in Washington DC and around the world, and travel programs—for study and for fun—take our students out into the world, while on campus they are involved in theatre and music, art, journalism, cooking, and debate, and many other activities.
